Butcher wet flies are a traditional trout fly which has been around for many years. Moon & Jewhurst of Tunbrigde Wells, devised the butcher wet fly  that was originally named 'Moon's fly'. However in 1838 it was renamed 'Butcher' after the their trade-- buchers and the colours of their trade white and blue apron splattered with blood.
